What are Adipates?

Adipates are the salts and esters of Adipic acid. Adipate plasticizers are colorless and odourless and are used in a number of products including:

coating, washing and cleaning applications, lubricants and greases
plant protection products, adhesives
sealants, polishes and waxes.
They are effective for low-temperature applications, show resistance to UV light and for indirect food contact applications.

Di Butyl Adipate (DBA)

Di Butyl Adipate is the diester of butyl alcohol and adipic acid. It is a clear colorless oily liquid used in cosmetics and personal care products. DBA acts as a fast spreading emollient. Such adipates plasticizer possesses solubilizing capacities for crystalline UV filters.

Di Octyl Adipate (DOA) is a light-colored, highly efficient adipates plasticizer. It is flexible at low temperatures and has good electrical properties. Moreover, DOA is resistant to weathering, and has good stability to heat. The excellent wetting characteristics make it desirable for plastisols. Especially, where low plasticizer content, coupled with low viscosity, and good fusion features are necessary.
